My Grandfather, Elmer Ellsworth Lines, was a Merchant Marine ca 1904, or so I thought. I surmise this photo was his. It has a notation on the back, as you can see.
I have inquired of the Military Depository how I can secure the records noted below. I have Elmer's fathers Civil War pension records (well, a copy of them) and I think it would be cool to have Granddad Lines military record as well. I thought Granddad Lines was in the Merchant Marines, but now I am not sure, since the Merchant Marines are not a military organization.

While we are on the subject of Elmer Ellsworth; when we lived in Oley there was an ice chests outside the closet under the front stairs. Do you remember it? One day I was looking through the contents and came across a heavy paper obituary notice (see below). Mama told me the card was for her Father's first wife, Rose. Though I have looked for any records pertaining to Rose Lines (her burial place, for instance) I have had no luck at all. I will, of course, keep looking.
